THE JOINT MUNICIPAL AUTHORITY

Newtown Bucks County Joint Municipal Authority (NBCJMA) is a public utility entity established by Newtown Township and Newtown Borough, Pennsylvania, under the Municipal Authorities Act. NBCJMA is responsible for the construction, maintenance, and operation of critical water and sewer infrastructure, including water supply, wastewater treatment, and disposal facilities. Our services are essential in protecting public health, supporting local businesses, and ensuring a reliable water and sewer system for the community.

Unlike tax-funded utilities, NBCJMA operates solely on service revenues, with all funds reinvested into system improvements. These investments allow for continuous infrastructure upgrades, enhanced efficiency, and the adoption of modern technologies, all while keeping customer rates among the most competitive in the region.

History & Governance

NBCJMA is led by a six-member Board of Directors, with three members appointed by Newtown Township and three by Newtown Borough. Board members serve staggered five-year terms, ensuring stable leadership and balanced representation of community interests. The Authority’s daily operations are managed by a Managing Director and a team of Pennsylvania state-licensed operators. Our commitment to transparency, operational excellence, and community engagement ensures that NBCJMA continues to provide high-quality, cost-effective water and sewer services for years to come.
