Sewer Mainline Test & Seal Project in Newtown Crossing
In June 2025 the Newtown Sewer Authority will begin a Sewer Mainline Test & Seal Project in a section of the Newtown Crossing neighborhood. This project utilizes state-of-the-art grouting technology to seal leaking joints and cracks from inside the pipe, preventing unwanted groundwater from entering the sewer system.
Project Overview:
- Sewers will be televised and joints in the pipes will be tested to identify leaks and cracks.
- Using advanced internal grouting techniques, crews will inject a specialized sealant into joints and cracks within the sewer mainline.
- This minimally invasive process eliminates the need for major excavation and helps extend the life of the existing sewer infrastructure.
- While you may see work trucks accessing manholes in the street, the work will be conducted entirely within the sewer pipes, so there should be minimal disruption to residents or traffic in the area.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to improve the sewer system. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Newtown Sewer Authority and we will be glad to answer all your questions.
This project is an important step in reducing excess groundwater infiltration, which can overload the sewer system and lead to unnecessary treatment costs.
Thank you for your support in keeping our community’s infrastructure safe and reliable!
